        1953年4月，师胜杰生于天津。师胜杰的父亲师世元，相声名家 [2]  。上世纪四、五十年代，在京津一带颇有名气。1959年，为了支援东北的艺术建设，师世元举家北上哈尔滨，出任哈尔滨民间艺术团相声队队长。师胜杰在家排行老二。
