Liaquat Zaman is a UK-based Islamic scholar and educator. He is widely respected for his teaching of classical Islamic sciences, including Arabic, tafsir, Hanafi fiqh, and hadith. Born and raised in Birmingham, he began his Islamic studies at a young age and later traveled to Karachi, Pakistan, to pursue advanced training. He studied for nearly nine years at a traditional Islamic seminary. There, he completed intensive coursework in Arabic grammar, rhetoric, Islamic jurisprudence, and Qur’anic exegesis. He then undertook a specialization in the Iftaa course, which focuses on issuing legal rulings in the Hanafi school. After returning to the UK, Liaquat Zaman began teaching at various institutions. He has served at As-Suffa Institute and Ad-Duha Institute, among others. He is known for making Islamic knowledge accessible and practical, especially for English-speaking audiences. In addition to classroom teaching, Liaquat Zaman produces educational content online. His projects include: – “Roots of Knowledge” — a platform that provides structured Islamic learning. – “Trying to Speak Arabic” — a podcast series that supports Arabic learners. – Lecture series on topics such as social responsibility, reflection, and spirituality. He also shares personal insights through video interviews and short reflections. These include series like “A Day in the Life,” which offers a glimpse into his daily routine as a teacher and scholar. Liaquat Zaman’s approach is practical and engaging. He focuses on making classical texts relevant to the modern world. His work continues to inspire students and communities across the UK and beyond.
