Each of us carries a unique life perspective fashioned and formed by our uniquely personal life experiences. The Tannaim of Pirkei Avos were no different. By analyzing the historical contexts in which they lived as well as their unique biographical backgrounds and life experiences, we can understand, on a deeper level, the lessons imparted by each Tanna and, in the process, gain a greater appreciation for the “Teachings of Our Fathers.”
