Thornton Waldo Burgess (January 14, 1874 – June 5, 1965) was not only a beloved conservationist but also a master storyteller who captivated young readers for over five decades. His profound love for nature and its creatures inspired him to craft more than 170 enchanting books. In his debut work, Old Mother West Wind, published in 1910, readers are introduced to a delightful cast of characters that would feature in his future tales, including the mischievous Peter Rabbit, the clever Jimmy Skunk, and the wise Grandfather Frog.
