Born in 19 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin) during the tumultuous final days of the Galactic Republic, Luke's life was shaped by destiny from the very start. Early Life on Tatooine Luke was born to Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, though he would not learn of his true parentage until much later in life. With his mother dying in childbirth and his father having fallen to the dark side to become Darth Vader, Luke was separated from his twin sister Leia and taken to the desert planet Tatooine. There, he was raised by his uncle Owen Lars and aunt Beru on their moisture farm. Growing up on Tatooine, Luke lived a simple life, unaware of his important heritage or the great destiny that awaited him. He spent his days working on the farm and dreaming of adventure beyond the dull routine of desert life. Luke developed into a skilled pilot, often racing his T-16 skyhopper through Beggar's Canyon with his friends. Despite his uncle's attempts to keep him on the farm, Luke yearned for something more, feeling a calling to a larger purpose he couldn't yet understand. Meeting Obi-Wan and Leaving Tatooine Luke's life changed forever when his uncle purchased two droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO, unaware that they carried secret plans for the Empire's dreaded Death Star. Through R2-D2, Luke discovered a message from Princess Leia Organa, pleading for help from Obi-Wan Kenobi. This led Luke to Ben Kenobi, a hermit who revealed himself to be the Jedi Master Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan began to tell Luke about the Force and the Jedi Knights, presenting him with his father's lightsaber. However, tragedy struck when Luke returned home to find his aunt and uncle murdered by Imperial stormtroopers searching for the droids. With nothing left for him on Tatooine, Luke decided to accompany Obi-Wan on a mission to rescue the Princess and deliver the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance. Journey to the Rebellion Luke's adventure took him to Mos Eisley spaceport, where he and Obi-Wan hired the services of smuggler Han Solo and his Wookiee co-pilot, Chewbacca. Aboard the Millennium Falcon, Luke began his first steps into a larger world, receiving initial training in the ways of the Force from Obi-Wan. Their journey led them to the Death Star, where Luke experienced both triumph and tragedy. He successfully rescued Princess Leia, but witnessed the death of Obi-Wan at the hands of Darth Vader. This loss deeply affected Luke, solidifying his commitment to the Rebel cause and his desire to become a Jedi like his father. The Battle of Yavin and Its Aftermath Luke's natural piloting skills and newfound connection to the Force proved crucial in the Battle of Yavin. Flying an X-wing starfighter, Luke made the seemingly impossible shot that destroyed the Death Star, dealing a major blow to the Empire and becoming a hero of the Rebellion overnight. In the years following the Battle of Yavin, Luke continued to serve the Rebel Alliance, participating in numerous missions and honing his skills as a pilot and emerging Jedi. He formed close bonds with Han, Leia, and his other compatriots, finding the family and purpose he had always longed for. Jedi Training on Dagobah Luke's path as a Jedi took a significant turn when, guided by the spirit of Obi-Wan, he traveled to the swamp planet Dagobah to train with Jedi Master Yoda. Under Yoda's tutelage, Luke deepened his understanding of the Force and faced the challenges of Jedi training. However, his training was interrupted by a vision of his friends in danger. Despite the warnings of Yoda and Obi-Wan, Luke left Dagobah to rescue his friends on Cloud City.
