Muna Abdifatah Abdifarah (also widely known as Munira Abdifatah Abdi) is a highly celebrated Kenyan Quran reciter and award-winning student from Eastleigh, Nairobi. Representing the vibrant Kenyan-Somali community, Muna Abdifatah Abdifarah has become a source of immense national pride, achieving historic milestones in international Quranic competitions and showcasing the high level of Quranic literacy in East Africa. Muna Abdifatah Abdifarah gained global recognition in 2023 when she was crowned the first-place winner in the women’s category at the prestigious American International Tibyan Quran Competition held in Minnesota, USA. At just 17 years old, she captivated judges and scholars with her near- flawless memorisation and technical precision in Tajwid. This global victory followed her remarkable performance at the 2022 Dubai International Holy Quran Competition, where she finished 8th out of approximately 300 competitors from across the world, earning a significant prize of over KSh 2 million for her achievement. Educationally, Muna Abdifatah Abdifarah is a dedicated student at the Mus’ab Educational and Islamic Centre in Eastleigh North, a renowned hub for Islamic scholarship in Kenya. Her journey to international success began locally, where she won competitive match-ups in Kenya and represented her country at regional levels, including the East and Central Africa Quran Competition held in Rwanda in 2022. Her recitation style is noted for its poise, clarity, and exceptional breath control, serving as an educational benchmark for young female reciters in the region. Muna Abdifatah Abdifarah continues to be a vital role model for the younger generation of Kenyan Muslims, demonstrating that dedication to the sacred text can lead to global distinction and empowerment.
