What's This Podcast
About?

For 35 years, the One World Media Awards have celebrated the world’s best journalism. We’re celebrating this milestone by interviewing some of our past winners and friends. Behind The Stories is a limited series podcast focused on the global south where you’ll hear conversations between leading journalists that get to the heart of why stories and storytellers matter. We’ll hear about how the media industry has changed – what still needs to improve and changes they’re hopeful to see. In this podcast, we’ll travel to Yemen, South Africa and Mexico to hear from our guests, Annie Slemrod, Middle East Editor at The New Humanitarian, journalist, Mai Noman, Deputy Editor of the Mail & Guardian in South Africa, Athandiwe Saba, Deputy Multimedia Editor at News 24, Nokuthula Manyathi, also in South Africa, freelance journalist, Oscar Lopez, a former New York Times reporter based in Mexico and journalist and political analyst, Arnoldo Cuéllar at Poplab in Mexico, which has been nominated for a One World Media Special Award in 2023. At One World Media, we believe that stories shape our world, it matters how they’re told. We support journalists and filmmakers across the global south to tell underreported stories that inform and connect us all.  Recorded at: Edit Store in London, part of the Clear Cut Group Executive producer and host: Ayesha Audio editor: Lawrence Westacott Executive producer: Will Jameson Producer: Charlie Evans-Flagg Hosted on Acast.
