In the Twi language of the Akan people of Ghana, "Sankofa" is a word that translates to "Go back and fetch it." It also means "Return to source." This word emphasizes the importance learning from the past to create a brighter future and not straying far from one's roots. Sankofa University focuses on the empowerment of Black/Afrikan people within America and across the diaspora. Various topics relating to economic and community empowerment, and psychological healing will be discussed. See you in class!
