Yassen Al Jazairi also spelled Yassin Fakih or Sheikh Yassen Al Jazairi, is a prominent Quran reciter from Algeria. He was born in 1969 in El Harrach, Algeria. He is widely recognized for his melodious voice and perfect pronunciation. He is noted as the owner of the first recorded complete Quran recitation with the Warsh ‘an Tariq Al-Azraq narration in Algeria. Warsh ‘an Nafi’ is a widely recognized method of reciting the Quran transmitted through Imam Warsh from Imam Nafi’ al-Madani, and it is especially prominent in North and West African countries, including Algeria. Digital Quranic archives feature numerous recordings of his recitations. Sheikh Yassen Al Jazairi has a strong background in both religious and secular education. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and also studied at the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Algiers, specializing in the Fundamentals of Religion. He led Tarawih prayers for the first time at the young age of 15. He has worked as a chemistry professor and is currently involved with the Holy Quran Radio, where he records classes on the Quran, its interpretation, and educational programs. He also teaches the Quran and its rulings in a mosque.
