About?

I’m Neil Brand – composer, pianist, and BBC broadcaster – and I’ve spent my life believing that music isn’t just something we listen to, it’s something we live through. That’s why I created All About The Music: a podcast where songs unlock the stories that make us who we are. Each episode, I sit down with a much-loved guest from culture, comedy or television to hear the soundtrack of their life. They bring the songs that shaped them – the iconic anthems, the guilty pleasures, the ones tied to unforgettable memories – and I bring those tracks to life at the piano. Playing them in the room sparks laughter, emotion, and plenty of surprises along the way. Series One features an eclectic line-up including Bruno Tonioli (Strictly Come Dancing), Samira Ahmed (BBC Radio 4’s Front Row), comedy legend Stephen Frost (Whose Line Is It Anyway?), broadcaster and adventurer Rob Bell (Channel 5/Discovery), architectural designer Charlie Luxton, and potter Keith Brymer Jones (The Great Pottery Throw Down). Together we dive into music that stretches from Thin Lizzy and Kate Bush to The Streets, Celine Dion, Marvin Gaye, The Sisters of Mercy, and The Chemical Brothers — taking in everything from cult classics to karaoke ballads along the way.
