In Discourse on the Method, René Descartes presents a revolutionary approach to understanding the world, famously encapsulated in the phrase cogito ergo sum—I think, therefore I am. This foundational work not only laid the groundwork for modern natural sciences but also revived ancient skepticism, influencing thinkers from Sextus Empiricus onward. By starting with radical doubt, Descartes encourages us to strip away preconceived notions and view existence from a fresh perspective. Join us as we explore the profound implications of Descartes’ method and its enduring impact on philosophy and science.
