Dr. Marwa Assar is a distinguished psychologist, psycho-spiritual educator, and the founder of The H.O.M.E. Institute, which stands for Heart Over Mind & Ego. She specializes in psycho-spiritual wellness approached through an Islamic psychological lens, aiming to help individuals achieve inner peace and alignment by understanding their psychological and spiritual design. Dr. Assar holds a B.A. in Psychology from Montclair State University, an Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University, and a Psy.D. in Applied Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Her doctoral research focused on “An Islamic Psychological Approach to Psychotherapy,” highlighting the contributions of Islamic teachings to psychological wellness and therapy for Muslim clients. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Assar has provided therapy to diverse populations in various settings, including private practice, schools, substance abuse treatment facilities, and county clinics. She currently serves as a psychologist at the Islamic Center of NYU (ICNYU) and is an adjunct faculty member at the Boston Islamic Seminary. At The H.O.M.E. Institute, Dr. Assar offers both online and physical spaces for psycho-spiritual education, providing students with heart-centered knowledge and tools to thrive spiritually, mentally, and emotionally.
