Blocking starlight to directly image Earth-like exoplanets and search for life. Project Starshade is a NASA concept led by MIT astrophysicist Sara Seager to detect signs of life on other planets. A giant flower-shaped screen flies in formation with a space telescope, blocking starlight so scientists can directly image Earth-like exoplanets and analyze their atmospheres. Have the skill but not the path into research? Rakiura puts you in a working lab, on a real problem picked by someone who knows what's tractable, with a group around you.
